IRON MIKE RIORDAN MAKES Sports Illustrated: My Kids are Going Pro!!!

I am not sure how many of you guys know my girlfriend, Kristen, but her Uncle Mike Riordan used to play for the New York Knicks and the Washington Bullets. Well, after he retired from basketball he opened a couple of bars in Annapolis, MD named "Riordans" & "Griffins". They are pretty cool little Irish pubs/sports bars. Anyway, Sports Illustrated did a small article about former athletes opening businesses. Above is a link to the story.

Uncle Mike tells some pretty funny stories about playing in the NBA. He told me a story once about how he was still living at his parents' house while he was playing ball because rookies hardly got paid anything. Phil Jackson moved from South Dakota and had no place to stay so he had to sleep on Uncle Mike's mother's couch. Kristen's Dad and Uncle Mike said that all he did was smoke pot. Kinda funny.

He also told me a story about how Bill Bradley and he were the worst dressed players in the NBA and Uncle Mike, Bill Bradley and a couple of other dudes were supposed to go on some game show. I can't remember if it was the producer of the show or just the other teammates who would not let Uncle Mike and Bill Bradley go on TV dressed as they were, so a couple of black dudes on the team loaned their suits to Uncle Mike and Bill Bradley. The funny part was the suits were like purple crushed velvet with butterfly collared shirts and pointy shoes with buckles. Must have been hysterical to see.

Anyway, Kristen's Dad played 4 years of college basbetball and Uncle Mike went pro, so I'm thinking if I have kids with Kristen they have 94% chance of becoming professional athletes.
